Marie’s Positions:
Parents have the right to direct the moral and religious upbringing of their children. We need to retain the right to seek out any services for their children that parents deem they need and are in line with their family values. I will visit and listen to our parents when seeking answers to their problems.
Schools must not presume to be in a position to override the values of parents. This means that progressive, identity-based policy and curriculum has no place in a public education. These have proven to be divisive and result in outcomes that are opposite of their stated goals.
Another implication of this position is that schools must not permit biological males in womens’ sports or womens’ bathrooms.
If elected, I promise my office will represent your values. For far too long, your elected representative has forgotten who elected him and how serving the citizens of District 77 and their needs are his top priority.
There is more to democracy than free and fair elections, but there can be no democracy without them. Constant vigilance is required to protect the fundamental right of political freedom from any type of fraud on election day. We must make sure media manipulation and regulatory obstacles during the campaign season are closely watched and kept in check. This takes many volunteers who are ready to be poll workers and watchers. Citizens are increasingly aware of this, and this can be achieved with the good people in my district. So many are willing to step into roles on election day but we must continue to recruit as many residents as we can. A top priority for me will be to sponsor legislation that will improve the security of our elections at the State and County level.
Pennsylvania has the ability to help our country become energy independent. We are the answer to our nations energy independence. We do not need to import from other countries and I will make sure we open up the opportunities to extract natural gas from our State. I will work to set aside regulations put in place by our present leaders that have hindered the production of natural gas. Not only will this work to provide opportunities for our energy demands for years to come, but it will create much needed good paying jobs. I promise to work diligently to help companies open our shale deposits once again, as PA is the 2nd largest supplier of natural gas.
Government spending is out of control. Our legislators, for years, have not stood up to this fact. We must limit our spending to that which is necessary and cut wasteful spending that does no good for anyone. Trillion dollar deficits will ruin the country. Citizens cannot run their personal finances the way the government runs the budget. It’s time to finally quit “kicking the can down the road” and put the country on a sustainable monetary path.
The first amendment states “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people to peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” The government cannot limit your right to express your views and beliefs, but it must be done in a peaceful manner. Freedom of speech does not mean one can tear down statues of George Washington to express views or beliefs.
Healthcare / Health Freedom Healthcare is not a right guaranteed by the Constitution, so it is the not the government’s responsibility. Healthcare is best left to individuals and private companies. Some advocate that all healthcare in this country should be government run. Anything the government does is usually at a higher cost and less efficient than private industry can do. There should, however be a safety net for those who cannot provide for their own health needs. Healthcare should not be extended to illegal aliens.
Protecting our borders from illegal movement of weapons, drugs, contraband and people, while promoting legitimate trade & travel, is essential to homeland security. Border security serves our country and allows for economic prosperity and a greater safety for our citizens. I believe working with Homeland Security will help identify and educate our citizens on reducing problems in our schools, streets and businesses. I, personally am Homeland Security and I have the resources to make sure we combat the problems arising right in our own district.
When government implements sound fiscal policy, it encourages business growth and the jobs that follow. When corporate taxes are too high it stifles business and jobs are lost. Over regulation of business activities does the same thing. Unnecessary and cumbersome regulations slow down business activity and thus slow down job creation.
We are free because we are Americans. We are safe because of our men and women in blue. I will defend and support first responders who serve and protect us without reservation. I will be continually monitoring legislation and create legislation when I feel we that it would help our Police force, EMS and Firefighters. I will always be their advocate!
The US Constitution is one of the greatest documents ever written. It has served our Country for over 200 years. I have taken an oath to uphold our Constitution as a member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. I take that oath with pride. In addition, I will uphold the PA Constitution and I will make it forefront in every decision I make as our Representative of the 77th District, It will be the document that I will always govern with and use as my guide.
